The Sanctuary

Welcome to the Enlightened Souls Sanctuary.
This online chapel is meant to serve as a spiritual oasis for those for whom a regular parish is unavailable. Our Chapel doors are open at all times.
In order to provide consistency in the services offered, I needed to choose a single lectionary. I chose the Revised Common Lectionary as a basis because it was readily available and seemed to welcome the widest spectrum of believers. The lessons offered here are often mirrored in many denominations, so you do not need to be of a specific denomination; you are certainly welcome to celebrate the Word with us here regardless of your spiritual path.
The order of service that you will find here is closest to that of the Episcopal church. Instead of the usual Eucharistic rite which would normally be provided on Sunday in a parish where one would receive communion, here you will find a modified weekly service, suitable for those occasions where communion is not offered.
You might note that wherever possible, the text of the service appears in both Latin and English. I have always been partial to Latin in church, and find that for me, hearing the word in Latin causes me to reflect more deeply on the meaning of the words, rather than lose them in the mist of other thoughts in English. By taking a moment to reflect in another language, I also make myself mindful of the purpose at hand: to make time in my day to focus on the Almighty and to learn more in faith.

In addition to the weekly service, you are welcomed to visit the oratory, where the prayer needs of the parish can be found. if you would like to add your prayer request, please feel free to e-mail us at Br.Devon@enlightened-souls.com or Blackthorn@enlightened-souls.com

For those who would like an additional moment of spiritual communion, you are welcome to participate in the hours of the church, which was celebrated by monastic orders of old. The text is taken from the Latin Primer of 1599.

We have provided a collection of prayers for you. It is continously growing and we hope to represent as many faiths as possible as time goes on.
